Smith: PENNVEST Awards Almost $560 Million for Drinking Water, Sewer Projects Across Commonwealth
January 21, 2026
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Brian Smith (R-Jefferson/Indiana), the House Republican appointee to the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) board, announced the investment of $559.8 million into 36 drinking water and wastewater projects across 20 counties throughout the Commonwealth.
Projects include the construction of a 7,200-foot raw water transmission main in Lancaster County, a new sludge sewage treatment plant in Clearfield County and upgrades to a wastewater treatment plant in Perry County.
“Access to clean water and top-of-the-line wastewater treatment are the foundations of flourishing communities,” Smith said. “PENNVEST has once again provided important investments into dozens of projects with these goals in mind, and I’m proud to work with my colleagues in the House of Representatives to support this work.”
“PENNVEST’s continued focus on improving and investing in our water infrastructure is vital for strong communities,” said Executive Director Robert Boos. “This work is accomplished through partnering with community leaders to make these investments to ensure increased access to clean water.”
PENNVEST, established in 1988, funds the design and construction of drinking water, wastewater and storm water projects across Pennsylvania.
