Smith: PENNVEST Awards $547.1 Million for Drinking Water, Wastewater Projects Across Commonwealth

October 15, 2025

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Brian Smith (R-Jefferson/Indiana), the House Republican appointee to the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) board, announced the investment of more than $547 million into 30 drinking water and wastewater projects across 29 counties throughout the Commonwealth.

Projects include the development of groundwater wells in Clinton County, the construction of a new water treatment plant in Columbia County and the renovation of 10 pump stations in Schuylkill County.

“Whether it’s a grant or a low-interest loan, PENNVEST gets local governments the funding they need to get big projects completed,” Smith said. “This work can be very expensive, but PENNVEST helps bridge the financial gap, working toward our goal of making sure everyone has access to clean water across the Commonwealth.”

“Today’s approval of funding by the Board of Directors continues PENNVEST’s commitment to clean water through a variety of water quality improvement projects across the Commonwealth,” said PENNVEST Executive Director Robert Boos. “These projects benefit the environment, economic development and public health, as well as advance our shared goal of a clean and safe environment for communities to enjoy, both now and for the years to come.”

PENNVEST, established in 1988, funds the design and construction of drinking water, wastewater and storm water projects across Pennsylvania.
